The importance of measuring more than once a day
Measuring your blood pressure at a consistent time is important because your care team can spot changes faster - it lets them compare your blood pressure taken at the same time, comparing apples to apples.
And although measuring at the same time and being consistent is important, you should also add extra readings to your routine. It’s because your blood pressure changes throughout the day, affected by your daily activities, medication and diet, and so your care team should be aware of the changes throughout the day, not just at your usual time.
SET A CHALLENGE
Set a 3 day schedule where you measure your blood pressure in the morning, noon and evening. Track it on your app or BP monitor and discuss it with your doctor or a care team during your next appointment. You can set a reminder for each time window in your Lara Health app, to make it easy.
Useful tip
If you ever wake up really early, take your blood pressure before you leave your bed. Taking a BP reading very early in the morning can tell your care team a great deal about how your heart recovers over the night time. If your BP measures high after a good night sleep, let your doctor know.
