The importance of measuring more than once a day
Measuring your blood sugar at a consistent time is important because your care team can spot changes faster - it lets them compare your blood glucose taken at the same time, comparing apples to apples.
And although measuring at the same time and being consistent is important, you should also add extra readings to your routine. It’s because your blood sugar changes throughout the day, affected by your daily activities, medication and meals, and so your care team should be aware of the changes throughout the day, not just at your usual time.
Set a Challenge
Set a 3 day schedule where you measure your blood sugar frequently: in the morning, noon and evening or even more often. Track it on your app or glucose monitor and discuss it with your doctor or a care team during your next appointment or phone check-in. You can set a reminder for each time window in your Lara Health app, to make it easy.
Useful tip
If your diet is consistent you probably know your usual meals affect your glucose levels. However, when traveling, trying new foods or eating out, have your meter ready and take a reading. That's because new meals, different ingredients and ways to prepare meal all affect your glucose.
